Woah what a day. Gas station opened late, killed a wallaby, killed a bird (that makes 3 in a week now), trouble with the tie-downs, the view was boring all the way, port hedland was pretty crappy and we decided to keep going to karratha but no sites would take dogs and the people there were rude. Finally we called a place another hour down the road and they are lovely. Got here, fortescue river roadhouse, at 6pm (13 hours of driving and 1100 kms/700 miles or so). There are actually some rather nice rolling hills with tufts of spinifex grass that are lovely in the sunset light. And the river we passed over to get to the roadhouse was beautiful. We are now at our site and are exhausted. Tomorrow it's only 6 hours thank god. Anyway we are here in one piece. Good news is awesome pasta dinner and jaffle brekkie care of jose.
