Happy puppy

Miski has been playing with this rawhide Xmas ornament for a few days, carrying it back and forth between rooms and burying it in her duvet on her little bed. Finally ate it today very happily. What a cute girl.

Yay robot vacuum!

Thank you mom and ray! What an awesome Xmas gift- the gift of clean floors and extra time. I hate vacuuming and Miski sheds like its her job. Today I came home to a clean living/dining room. Awesomeness. Now if only they could invent a robot to do my dishes and put them away and I'd be set. Other jobs like refinishing furniture, painting the house, re-caulking the bathroom...no problem.

Mint and peppers

Our mint and peppers have been growing very well! I have to bring some to work because its too much for me. They are so beautiful and fragrant. Next spring i am going to plant some other herbs and veggies :) still waiting for the figs to ripen.

Primed dresser

Finally sanded the old dresser. It was in a pretty sad state. And then I primed it. Will paint it flame red next weekend :) yay!

Pretty peppers and house work

Our peppers are beautiful! Wish I ate them more. Got them more for jose because he loves spicy food. I am toying with what fabric to use on the chair cushion. May use this batik but am not sure. Also put up a new vanity in the bathroom that matches better than the horrible other metal and glass one. Getting ready to paint the dresser. Can't wait for that to be done! Wish I had more time to work on the house.

Happy straya day

Saturday was Australia Day, or as they say here straya day. Can't believe it's our third one! Sad that jose isn't here with us. I spent the day doing errands and working on the house. On my way to bunnings I saw that they were holding a dressage competition just 2 min from our house. Pretty amazing. The horses were so stunning and I felt a pang of jealousy and miss riding so much. They also had other events on that day. Only four weeks until jose comes home!

Soccer dog

Took miskers for her yearly vaccinations and then for a soccer romp to make up for the insult of going to the vet. She had a blast!

Miski's new house

Moo didn't like her old house so I got her this new one that's bigger and more comfy. Hopefully she'll like it on cold and windy days :) but I think she really prefers my lap.

more projects and sad miski

well jose left on friday and spent the night/next day with our good friend emmett in perth. they went for mexican food and then the beach the next day. jose took a great shot of the beach there with his new camera app.  miski really misses jose - she is moping around the house. and i have thrown myself into a project to keep from being too lonely - am painting a handmade chair/setee in flame red enamel paint so it looks like those cool shiny asian furniture pieces.  it's very bright but i'm going to put a cushion on it and i think it'll be great. besides it's been fun to work on it.  also put in a photo of all the bricks we bought to pave the backyard - eep i'm going to have to do it by myself now!

Sad day (jose left) and jose is an artist!

Well today was a very sad day. I was sick and jose left for perth today. Tomorrow he will fly on to derby to go back to work. This time at least it's only for 6 weeks and then we will meet in Perth and go to Sydney together for his US visa interview. I'm already sad, bored, lonely and missing him. Sucks here without him. Miski is restless and upset too. She misses him a lot. Anyway jose found this camera app and has been taking and modifying photos and they are really good! See three below. Very artistic. I tried and mine didn't turn out nearly as well. Impressive!

My two cuties

I'm so sad jose is leaving today. Cute to see jose and Miski enjoying some quality time together. She can tell something is up and is looking very sad. Boo leaving!

More pictures and Miski the ghost

A large print of adcock gorge arrived yesterday finally! I put it in our wooden frame thing. Doesn't fit perfectly but I think it's pretty good anyway. Also gave a very smelly Miski a bath last night and jose tied the towel around her so she wouldn't roll all over the carpet and furniture. It was hilarious!

Burgers and paving

We had awesome burgers from Dylan's for lunch today. Miski approved too. Then I fell asleep on Joses shoulder while he watched tv and now he's laying bricks! I cannot believe he leaves tomorrow. Feels like he just got here and we are going to miss him so much!

Miski out on the town

Have had a great day off with jose and Miski. We slept in and lounged around and then did a few errands and took Miski for a romp at a fake pond thing. She loved it. Went back and forth between swimming and playing soccer. Then took her into town while we got some burgers to go.

Luckiest wife ever

Seriously I am so lucky. Jose made us chicken Saltado tonight for dinner and even made it look restaurant style. It was so yummy.

Ham sammies are amazing!

I haven't had one in ages and recently rediscovered how yummy they are. So many sandwiches are made with one piece of meat and a wilted lettuce leaf. Yuck. I made mine with mayo, seeded mustard, honey ham, heirloom tomato slices, aged cheddar cheese slices, lots of lettuce and avocado. So good!!!! Jose loves them too :) all I need now is bean sprouts. Reminds me of the states :) sigh

Lazy dog and chocolate rats

Jose couldn't sleep well last night so he sat up in the living room and when I woke up today this is what was next to me. Sneaky girl. This afternoon after work jose and I met some of my coworkers at a new bar in town called rats. It was awesome - great atmosphere, good drinks, yummy tapas, and friendly staff. Best of all I got a Venezuelan dark chocolate rat with fig purée and vanilla bean ganache. Talk about yum!

Puppy cookies

When we got home Miski was jealous until she saw her bag of cookies :) she loved them! more photos in the albany 2013 album

Denmark arts markets and lunch at willoughby winery

Had a lazy Saturday morning and then at the last minute I remembered the art markets were on in Denmark. So we hit the road. Walked around for about an hour and got a cute dress, some produce and cute doggy cookies at a 'pawtisserie.' How cute is that! It was great there-tons of stalls with cool crafts, lots of yummy looking food and live music. It was a hot one though. Went to willoughby winery for lunch and totally pigged out. Jose had a taster beer paddle and I had a glass of their sav blanc. We had salt & pepper squid (it was the best) and then he had steak and veggies and I had duck confit with salad. Had to have dessert so I got coconut panna cotta with mango and jose ordered a chocolate and berry pizza with ice cream. We thought that would be small but it was HUGE. He ate it all! Anyway the whole day was great and we drove home and were in a food coma for a while :)
