Bacon!

Ryan woke up very cheerful and very hungry this morning. He had an enormous brekkie today. He had cereal, pear, yogurt and bites of egg and bacon too! Today was his first time trying bacon and he absolutely loved it and cried when I took the piece away. Daddy was very proud :)

Ryan the art connoisseur

Ryan is such a funny bunny. He's got such a lovely personality and cute little quirks. One is that he absolutely loves aboriginal art! We have a painting in our house and he goes gaga for it. He babbles up a storm and reaches for it. At Ngala he did the same but only to the aboriginal art prints. I wonder if it's the dots or the colours. I think it is so cute. And a memory I will treasure forever. He's a true Aussie bloke :)

Three mums and their bubs

A lovely photo opportunity we couldn't pass up because we are almost never in the same place at the same time!! It was me and Ryan, Billie and Tillie and Louisa with Isobel. Ryan and Tillie are only a week apart and Isobel is 9 1/2 months. I'm going to seriously miss these girls.

Billies bday

Today is billies birthday! Happy birthday Billie! We joined Billie and crew at emu point for tea and cake which was lovely. Unfortunately Ryan woke from his nap way earlier than expected so we could only stay a short while. But it was so fun to get out and see her and Louisa and their babies. Ryan was the sole boy baby so he enjoyed having all the chicks to himself :)

Home again home again jiggety jog

Friday morning we flew home with the sparrows. Unfortunately when virgin australia took over the flights from albany to Perth they cut the midday flight. Well that left us with crack of dawn flights or evening ones. Terrible times for babies. So we hate you V Aus. Boo. Anyway I had to get poor Ryan up at 4:45 am. He was sleeping so soundly he didn't wake until I had him halfway into the taxi. He loves planes so he enjoyed the ride and looking at all the passengers. A flight attendant held him for me while I went to the loo and when I returned, worried he'd be crying, I found him at the end of the plane leaning all the way over and grabbing at everyone's hair. It was very cute. The guy said he was very wiggly. Which I guess is true though I've not noticed it much. It's increased gradually. He loves his carrier anyway which is lucky for me! We had a nice day at home together too and he had some stellar naps and a good nights sleep.

Tasty toes

Ryan has been playing with his feet for months now and has gotten even more into them lately. And then on Wednesday the 27th he put his toes on his mouth for the first time! They must be very tasty :) so now I get to call him by the namesake my grandpa gave me when I was little - chocolate toes :)

Trying to crawl and piano man

On Thursday Ryan woke up very happy after a pretty great nights sleep. He had a huge dinner and then went without a feed again but had an hour and a half waking where he needed help to get back to sleep without a tummy full of milk. After a big brekkie he played with the other kids there. I popped him over my leg and he immediately started to push up on his hands and feet with his tushy in the air. It was so cute. He had almost no weight on my leg really.  He was rocking back and forth and trying so hard to walk. Adorable. He then banged away on the crocodile xylophone and had a blast. Mr personality!! Naps are still a mystery but he's just too clever and can't turn his busy brain off. That's what the nurses say :) he was a big hit there.

Walker and black cockatoos

My little munchkin tried out a walker at Ngala. I know they are a no no these days but he only tried it for a few minutes and was supervised of course. And he loved the freedom of being upright and able to walk! Such a cutie. Later that day we took a walk at our usual time and saw the black cockatoos again. Ryan enjoyed watching them fly overhead and squawk loudly at their friends

Beep beep

Ngala had an old style little tykes car in the playground and I took Ryan for a little spin. I was surprised at how much he loved it. He was ecstatic!! He kept banging on the steering wheel trying to honk the horn. It was so cute. I can't wait to get him his own. You can just see his two little bottom teeth in the top picture.

Apple beard

Ryan had a good brekkie today and started off the morning in very cheerful spirits. He ate lots of cereal and banana and is taking bites of banana by himself now :) it's so cute. He had an applesauce beard after his meal today too. Sadly he's gotten progressively more tired due to very short naps. It is way too loud for him here this week. Anyway I am struggling to not be irritated by the short naps. He's been playing with his feet for many weeks now but today he popped his toes in his mouth for the first time on his change table! It was so cute! I used to do that too apparently. He also inches along like an inch worm on the floor.

Macaroni

Last night Ryan had a really big dinner. He ate broccoli, potato, yam, beef and macaroni and cheese. He wasn't so into the macaroni but he gobbled up his beef, potato and veggies. He loves broccoli. Go figure. He also pretend drank from a cup I gave him to keep him occupied. So cute!! Anyway he had a great nights sleep and only woke once. His naps today have been atrocious though. Which frustrates me

Spaghetti!!

Yesterday for dinner Ryan had spaghetti and meat sauce for the first time. I didn't think he'd be able to do much more than play with it but he did great and ate a lot of it! He absolutely loved it! He played with it and picked it up and ate it and ate it off a spoon. He also had some cereal. So impressive. It was really fun to watch him explore and enjoy his food. Sadly we had a very hard night because his neighbour screamed bloody murder all night long. Ryan is hypersensitive and cries when he heard loud noises. So he woke up and could not go back to sleep. I don't blame him because it was deafening. We had to move to a room across the building. It took two hits of him crying to finally sleep again. As sorry as I am for that family I'm also pretty pissed off about him waking up Ryan. Anyway Ryan then slept until morning and went without a night feed for the first time EVER! So that's magic. I got zero sleep bc that stupid boy screamed every hour and I could hear him all the way across the building like he was in the room with me. And he's old enough to know better (2). Anyway enough bitching. Today has been hard of course bc Ryan is overtired. I hope we actually get some help this week and not more sleep deprived.

First finger foods

Since all the meals here are provided I thought we'd try out finger foods. Ryan loved picking up pieces of potato, carrot, broccoli and cauliflower. Most of it ended up on the floor but he got good practice in and managed the soft foods so well!! He loved broccoli and cauliflower which surprised me! I did eat a ton of those when I was pregnant with him though. I'm so amazed at how quickly he picks new skills up!!

My little traveler

On Monday morning Ryan and I got up with the sparrows and flew to Perth to go to Ngala again for sleep support. He was very happy on that chilly morning and had a little cat nap on the plane. He loves flying and is such a good sport about it.

28 weeks

I'm behind on taking Ryan's weekly photos. I missed 27 and 28 is late. But he's so cute it doesn't matter :)

Boat shed markets

Ryan and I are off to perth together tomorrow. Eep! So it's just us two for the next ten days or so. Mummy's gomna be tired! Anyway today we went to the markets this morning and got some smoothies and cake. Ryan enjoyed the outing a lot. I swear he grew again last night! He's so much bigger now and starting to burst out of his 9 month clothes already. He's only 6.5 months now. Can't wait to weigh him to see what he's gained. He's got t and k sounds now :) he's so cute and giggly and he squeals a lot. It's such fun :)

New blanky

We took a walk again yesterday and used Ryan's new blanket from the Vancouver street fair. He loves it and plays peekaboo with me. He's really active these days and loves to stand and try to walk (with help). He is so good at reaching and grabbing and turning toys back and forth to inspect them. He's now also started to slap and grab my face while nursing which was cute for a minute and is now pretty annoying. He's also able to do the craziest twirls with his tongue. Jose and I can't do it! And his noises are more mature. They go up and down in octave smoothly and are so cute. Funny little guy. We are off to perth to Ngala next week again!

My little guppy

Here's my cute little man in his (size 1 = 12 months!) swim outfit at swim class yesterday. He had an absolute ball and loves being in the water and splashing around. He tries to drink the water though because he thinks it's one big cup! And he loves drinking water from a cup at home :)

Walkies

My beautiful little bear and I took a walk on a very cold fall afternoon the other day. Ryan had tons of fun as usual and was snug as a bug in a rug in his little bear hoodie. He's chatting away with cops and consonants these days. He's also into everything and wants to get his little paws on everything and anything he sees.

Watermelon

Ryan loves watermelon and looked like Dracula after slurping on a big chunk with daddy the other day.

Watching the rain

Last week we had a lot of rain. And I mean a lot!! So we didn't get our afternoon walks for several days. As our wind down we watched the rain from the big picture window in the living room. Ryan loved it and chatted away at the scenery and the birds flying by. He had a massive growth spurt just recently so he's been ravenous and fidgety and huge now!! His two lower teeth are also about halfway up now :)

Sunny day and dancing

Today was very pretty so we spent some of it outside in the backyard. Ryan loves to grab fistfuls of grass and try to cram them into his mouth and poke his toes into the dirt. He also loves to dance with daddy :) he's been cooing up a storm lately which has been lovely.

Yogurt, no!

Today Ryan tried yogurt for the first time. He was a good sport and took a few bites but was not impressed. He did however very much enjoy eating scrambled egg off my plate :) perhaps after a few more tasted he will enjoy yogurt.

Mums day lunch and pork

Jose and Ryan took me out to Chicha for my first Mother's Day lunch since Jose was working on Sunday. It was super yummy and Ryan had a blast banging on the menu and trying to grab all of our food. We let him suck on a piece of pork and he loved it! He even gummed a bit off successfully. He's so chatty and laughs when we laugh and is even more interactive than before. Every day is so much fun!!

Drizzly day

It's been a cloudy and drizzly day which means we didn't get our daily afternoon walk. Such a bummer. Ryan loves them and they help me clear my head and Miski gets some attention and exercise. I was very tired today so we had a chill day playing and singing songs and reading books. Ryan did lots of sitting and tummy time. He's getting so good at it. He was dying to try my bread today so I gave him little bites and he loved it! I'm surprised he is doing so well so quickly with different solid consistencies. He's also turning toys and books around front to back and so on to study them from all sides. Pretty clever!

Mother's Day and munchies!!

Today is mums day in australia. Ryan and I have celebrated by smearing baby food all over ourselves :) he is giggly and happy today after a great nights sleep. Woke once and slept 12 hours total. Pretty amazing. We got to FaceTime the whole family as they were gathered for various bdays and Mother's Day. Such fun for Ryan to get to see them all at least in 2D! Today he tried to crawl by raising up a tad on his hands and knees. He also tried some corn and loved it. He tries so hard to roll when he sees me eating something and then gets very upset when he can't. He's almost there :)

My first mums day

Can't believe that this year I am actually a mom myself! It still sounds odd to me. Jose and Ryan got me beautiful flowers and a lovely card :) I feel very spoiled. Apparently Ryan picked out the card all by himself! So that's even better :) happy moms day to all you moms out there

Mr looky-loo

This evening I was too tired for another walk so Ryan and I watched the sunset from our big picture window as our wind down this evening. He really enjoyed it and kept looking back and forth and babbling at what he saw. Also I just love his cute little profile :)

Vancouver street fair

These are taken in a cafe but later that day we all went to the Vancouver street fair. I went last year when Ryan was in my tummy! This year he took in all the sights, sounds and smells. I got him a bunch of handmade baby items. A blanket and some bibs and things like that. It was very nice and lovely weather which was lucky. On the way out of the fair Ryan played peekaboo with us from his stroller! He took his cuddly and put it over his face and pulled it down again over and over. He would look up expectantly at us and then giggle. It was absolutely amazing.

Strawberries

Even though he's looking away Ryan loved his first taste of strawberries. Jose was having waffles and strawberries so I snagged a few and let Ryan suck and bite on them. He loved it!

Giggle feet

Yesterday jose, Ryan, Miski and I took a walk. It was a beautiful afternoon and Ryan really enjoyed himself. He grabbed his cute little footsies and giggled up a storm at jose saying 'Steepandcheap' over and over again. He thought it was hilarious for some reason. Best laugh ever.
