Tomato basil fettuccini

I got inspired this afternoon to make a real meal instead of continuing my snack like habit of avocado and tomato slices. I made organic tomato basil fettuccine with chicken pasta sauce. I used tomatoes and herbs from our own garden and locally grown zucchini and mushrooms and locally raised chicken! Yum!

Stunning sky and funny fog

Yesterday we had a pretty sunset and the clouds were so beautiful. One looked like a turtle! Slept really well last night thanks to our curtains and woke up early feeling pretty great. I thought I might go outside and garden but when I opened the curtains I couldn't believe the fog! It's rarely foggy here or maybe I'm not up early enough. Anyway pretty wild. It's all burned off now and is a beautiful day. I've managed to do very little which has been lovely :)

Damn near perfect day

Weather wise at least. Jose isn't here so it's not perfect of course but I slept in late, did some crazy yoga, gardening, played with the dog and then went to a friends BBQ. Lovely! And it's a gorgeous day - a perfect 78 degrees. A bit on the windy side but not too bad. I'm now sitting in Jose's man cave in the backyard enjoying the view and a glass of sun tea. Wish all my Cali friends and fam were here with me.

Caprese salad

Things are same old same old here. Still missing jose and busy at work. I've been loving my yoga and a lot of my tomatoes have ripened :) I can't keep up with them so tonight I made caprese salad with homegrown tomatoes and basil. Super yummy!

Honey mustard chicken stew

Had a lazy evening yesterday, enjoying the super dark curtains in the bedroom. Today I slept late again and did not much of anything really. It was bliss. Took Miski for a run and thought about doing housework. That's as far as I got. I did make honey mustard chicken stew for dinner and since Jose is away I have food for days which is novel. I miss him so much. Wish I had a couple more weekend days...

Passion fruit flowers and sunny day

I've been very sad since jose left and it was a long week so after work yesterday I forced myself to do yoga and basically just went to bed. Today is absolutely gorgeous. I slept in, cleaned up the house a bit, did yoga, and then went with a girlfriend to the orchard for fresh local fruit and to emu point cafe for a sandwich and fresh juice. Absolutely stunning. Then I came home and did a bit more housework and tended to my passion fruit vine. I found about 6 huge flowers! Yay!

Curtains!

Omg our curtains for the bedroom have arrived and they are amazing. It's crazy how big that window is and now it seems almost theatrical. It does make the room feel a tad smaller but I guess that's inevitable. I can finally sleep without that horrible streetlight making it feel like daylight in the room. Yay!

Lime 303 dinner

Since jose is going back up north tomorrow we had our valentines day dinner tonight at lime 303. We've heard great things about it but haven't gone until now. The food was amazing, the service pretty good except for one rude woman. We had beautiful squid for starter, for main jose had a trio of meats (sausage, lamb and buffalo) and I had wild Atlantic salmon with black rice and coconut sauce. Then for dessert we had was a trio of sweets: chocolate mousse, shortbread, and a truffle. Truly delicious! We also had a few cocktails of course. A lovely evening out. 

Passion fruit!

I was just thinking that we wouldn't get any passion fruit this season and then I noticed this little guy! Can't believe I didn't see it before. And now I see a whole bunch more starting! Yay!

Bar dog Miski

Jose had the day off and I so wish I could have taken it off with him but my day ended up being crazy busy. Anyway after work I made tacos and then we had daiquiris in Jose's bar :) Miski enjoyed a taste too! Jose is leaving for derby again in two days :(

Sleepy Miski and tomatoes

Miski was so tired out yesterday from her run with jose that she passed out in the cutest way. Also my tomato plants are absolutely massive! Can't wait until they're ready :)

Sunny Sunday soccer and drinks

We have had a surprisingly busy weekend. We went to bed late and slept in really late too. I did some yoga and then made some veggie juice. We did some gardening and housework which was fun. The day started our mellow and healthy but then we raced jose to soccer and then raced to have drinks with some friends. Had a ball with them and sampled all their home brewed beer and liquor and ate tons and tons of cheese. Yummy and amazing! Also fell in love with their beautiful long haired Weimaraner. Whewf I'm tired and stuffed!

Eek a giant rat!

Oh no wait...that's just Miski. Silly girl has really taken to going under the bed lately. No idea why but she'll go under and sit like this or sometimes crawl around for a while. It's bizarre and very cute.

Lunch at chicha

Another work week gone! Friday night I went out with some work mates for drinks which was fun. Jose and I were so tired that we slept in verrrrrrrry late today which was delicious but means we missed the farmers market. We got some plants for the last section of garden we are redoing and then grabbed a huge lunch at chicha, a South American street food joint in town. It's owned by a Peruvian and has the best burgers in australia I've had so far. Yum. Nanna nap for me and jose has to work :(

My cutie patooties

Look at this. So hard to leave them to go to work in the morning! It's been another very full on work week. Sounds like a broken record lately i know. Hopefully things will settle down a tad soon. Anyway went for drinks with a friend last night and then jose and I worked opposite schedules today. I made Vietnamese chicken salad for dinner tonight, yummy. Jose has to go back to derby again next week :(

BBQ and caprese salad

We both had a long day at work today and grabbed some groceries afterwards. I did some much needed yoga and Jose fired up the BBQ. We had BBQ lamb and fillet miñon, roasted potatoes and modified caprese salad (with goats cheese). It was super yummy!

Tomatoes

And a wee bell pepper. Our tomatoes just keep coming. Today I picked a big beautiful pinky looking one (left). I thought it was a Black Russian but looking at it I think it must be a mortgage saver. Also have a beefsteak tomato and a teeny tiny pepper. I just can't seem to get the peppers to grow bigger! Anyway they are delicious!

Caravan sun concert

ow. What another breakneck week. I mean seriously the year has just begun! Anyway today I did some aged care assessments which was so fun to work with adults again. Then jose and I had lunch and went out to Willoughby winery to see caravan sun   Very fun!
