frolicking with hawks and garage sale finds

we had a great weekend! took miski to the park morning and evening where she has an absolute blast chasing birds and rolling in the grass.  this morning we came early enough to see several hawks on the prowl there. they really liked miski's ball so when we threw it they would dive for it.  got a great video of it (see above).  then i made a good, healthy dinner and we camped out with our new garage sale table and watched dr. who.  it was awesome.

moroccan salad and fitzroy visit

completely unrelated but i'm trying to cook healthier food these days...Moroccan salad was one of my first attempts. With salmon on the side. talk about yum!  anyway also had a quick and incredibly busy trip to fitzroy last week.  got to see lots of kids, which was great, but it was absolutely exhausting.  had a lazy, relaxing weekend where we hit garage sales, read books, enjoyed wine on our porch (finally the weather is nice) and went for a romantic dinner saturday. yay!

miski's outfit for the millions of paws walk-a-thon!

how cute is she!  we got the little raincoat for her in freo with this event in mind. i made her this little fire chief hat to go with it today. can't wait to show it off tomorrow :) it's to raise money for stray animals.  we had a really successful garage sale shopping day today...got loads of stuff. i even got a bike - finally!  jose started his new job yesterday and is very happy with that.  good weekend.  got a cookup planned after the walk tomorrow too. yum  more photos in the Derby 2011 Album

fishing day with our first croc sighting!

brooke came up from broome to visit this weekend which was amazing! we went to a couple of parties in town on friday night and had a ball.  saturday we went garage sale-ing and i got some much needed kitchen gear - casserole dish, french press, extra pan, etc.  then we got invited to go fishing and have a picnic out at the river. we accepted of course and had a great light lunch and then fished for quite a while. sadly no fish again this time, apparently it was the wrong time of day for fishing. oh well. it was so much fun though, very relaxing and we got to see our very first wild croc!  just a baby, but dangerous looking nonetheless. you can just make him out in the photo above.  more photos are under Derby 2011 Album
