Sausage sizzle

After yard work Jose made us sausages and lamb for a late lunch. Miski was very interested in this activity :)

Holiday waffles!

We woke late again today - that's gonna make it hard for us to get up tomorrow for work. We have Monday off for Australia Day and Jose made us delicious waffles with local strawberries on top. So yummy! Then we grabbed a few necessities at the hardware store and did some housework and took Miski for a run. Also here is a pic of my mom and brother looking super fabulous at a fundraising do in Los Angeles. So wish I could be there with them!

Happy Australia Day

It's Australia Day today! We met up with some friends at eyre park in town for a free outdoor movie night. They were playing Muriel's Wedding, an iconic Aussie film and one of my favorites. Everyone brought nibbles and we had an awesome feast and gorgeous weather. So much fun. Happy Aussie day everyone!

Lazy Sunday and Vietnamese salad

We woke very late today which was delicious. I did a yoga class that put a great big grin on my face. Very nice. Talked to mom and then made a Vietnamese salad with chicken. Yum!

Vietnamese rice paper rolls

I've been dying for some Vietnamese food so we made rice paper rolls today. We put chicken, cucumber, carrot, spring onion, ginger, mint, cilantro and vermicelli in them and had a lovely spicy lime and chilli dipping sauce on the side. Yum!!

Miski swimming with her floatie

It was a long hard work week and I for one was glad to see the end of it. After work on Friday Nat, Sheree and I went out for a glass of wine at the ivy in town. I also had a nice salmon meal and ice cream of course! So nice to unwind with them. Today jose worked in the morning and I slept in, did yoga and then we took Miski for a swim in the Kalgan river. It's super hot today so it was a perfect swim day. Tried out miski's life jacket and she loved it! She sinks without the floatie help and today she got rally comfortable swimming! We also stopped at the orchard next to the river for some absolutely beautiful fruit. Best peaches I have ever had. A lovely day :)

Sleepy bean

We have one pooped puppy today! Jose took her for a run after work today. She's now begging us to go to bed and sighing every few seconds. She waits for us to go to the bedroom so she can sleep :)

Weird beach critters

We saw some pretty cool critters on the beach today. Must have been a storm somewhere to have them all wash up like that. We saw some puffer fish too. First pic is of a goose barnacle. It is seriously weird looking. Second pic is a bluebottle. Apparently it's multiple critters joined together. Weird. Then there is a violet snail. There were tons of them on the beach. They drift bottoms up in the ocean by blowing bubbles that harden and help them float. I have no idea what the last picture is of. So neat!

Cozy corner beach day

It was hot last night and we didn't sleep that well so we slept in a bit today. Jose had to work and I did yoga and a bit of gardening. When he got home we headed off for an afternoon at cozy corner beach. It was a beautiful day and a lovely beach. Miski was thrilled- it was her first time to the beach after her toe surgery.

Woah feast

Well...it's been a long week for everyone I think. I barely dragged myself out of bed today to do yoga and then go to work. We did a few errands after work and then grabbed a bite at dome for dinner. I had been eyeing their "Canadian" Belgian waffle special so I tried it. Really good but sooooo sweet. So now I feel rather ill but it was worth it. A little taste of home (kind of). We will hopefully be ordering curtains for our living room and bedroom soon too! Yay!

Ice vending machine

We needed ice and heard about this new ice vending machine in town. It's awesome. It plays ice ice baby on a loop. Hilarious. Second photo is of jose all dressed up for work. So handsome!

3 Anchors Sunday afternoon indulgence

It's been a super hot weekend here. Jose worked a lot of it so mostly mine was spent doing yoga and napping. Nice but not very social. So today we met up with some friends at 3 anchors at Middleton beach and had burgers and beer. It was sooo good! Then we had dessert. I got a deconstructed lemon meringue. Good but hard to eat. Nat and dan got Eskimo bars and a home made snickers bar. Both were amazing. I think the Eskimo bars were my fav. So fun!! And such a gorgeous day.

Baked potatoes and beet salad

We've been cooking healthier these days. Jose is at work this evening so I tried my hand cooking alone. Not as fun as cooking with jose but I made beet, carrot, apple salad with baked potatoes filled with olive oil, goat cheese, parsley and wasabi. Very yummy!

Funny bunny

At first all you see is the dining room. Then you look closer and see our silly dog doing child's pose under the table. No idea why. Such a weirdo

Sunday cooking

I was starving this morning after doing yoga so we made a yummy veggie and goat cheese scramble with local strawberries on the side. We relaxed the rest of the day and Miski sat in her sunny window all afternoon. Then we made soba noodle miso soup for lunch. Yum!

Yilgarnia winery

Yesterday we woke up early and grabbed some fresh veggies at the farmers market, local eggs from the lady down the street and took miskers for a romp at the oval. Then we headed off to denmark for the arts market. We didn't really buy anything but we had some snacks there and enjoyed the music. Then on the way home we decided to stop at yilgarnia winery. Talk about amazing. The pic above is of part of their property with views to the vines. The owners were lovely and the wines delicious and a new favorite of ours! It was very luxurious. Headed home where we put up trellises for our tomatoes and vegged out the rest of the night. Lovely.

Thai chicken curry

We made our first curry entirely from scratch today! A lot of the ingredients for the paste came from our garden. So easy and turned out to be super yummy. We had it with yams, cauliflower and served it on red rice. Miski loved it too.
