Digging for gold (or bronze maybe)

I find the top picture totally hilarious. Ryan loves statues and particularly nostrils and eyes. He finds any holes in the house or anywhere we go and wants to explores them. Hilarity ensues. Except he keeps trying to poke my eyes out. And he keeps biting my shoulder until I bruise.

We love the zoo!

Sunday afternoon came and Ryan didn't nap much. It was also a nice cool overcast day so we went to the zoo! Ryan loved it of course, especially the big birds and the gazelle. But his favourites by far are the statues and the amazing gondola ride! He went nutsy cuckoo for the skyfari ride and kept asking for another go! I found it terrifying personally because there is zero protection. No windows. No seat belts. You could just hop on out and freefall. Yikes.  But Ryan is fearless and loves anything and everything new!

Rainy day play

Well finally we got a cool, rainy day! Ryan loved playing outside in the crisp air, picking up leaves and exploring the garden. He did so very seriously and studiously. He is so attentive to all his surroundings and notices right away when things are different or amiss. He noticed that the landscapers had taken trees out and changed the plants. He just loved the rain. This past weekend he slept horribly and we were all exhausted so it was nice to have a sleepy, rainy day to relax.

Mr investigator

Ryan is such an explorer. He investigates everything and becomes loudly irritated when denied access to his next desired realm. Such as drawers, the toilet, doors, shoes, etc. he loves to find things and show them to us. He loves to play tickle games with dad and asks for more so clearly using his eyes and body language. He is such a delight.

Gymboree yay

Way too many cute pics from Gymboree this week! His personality really shows during these classes or maybe it's just seeing the contrast between Ryan and the other kids. He is cautious and watchful. He guards his smiles and while he loves the climbing and ball activities he does not like the very unstable ones, or at least takes a while to warm up to them. Once he's had a go usually he charges full steam ahead. It's been really nice to watch him crawl away from us to enjoy something and see that he still feels safe to do so. He's now crawling like a spider or a stink bug up the ramps which is so cute. He loves to slide down on his tummy too. And he likes swinging on tire swings on his tummy! He loves bubble time and runs around popping them all. And he dances to the music and has great rhythm. Watching a baby grow up is magical. It is like a miracle what they can do and so fast too! Today he managed to reach the doorknob and I know I'm in for it now!!

I want that!

Mr Ryan the master pointer! He sure knows what he wants and points to it and let's us know that we need to get it asap. It's pretty funny until mealtimes when it becomes a battle of wills. He usually wins which is concerning. He points to everything and vocalises, looking up at us like come on guys get with it! He likes to press the animal noise book buttons and then look at us until we make the same noises. He's extremely attentive and very tuned into his environment. He noticed right away when we put our pictures on the wall. He loudly vocalised about those for at least a week until it became old news. Such a funny guy

Fun with yogurt and rocking horse

You gotta love this. Ryan stole the yogurt right out of our hands and had a ball playing with it! My OT friends would be so proud!! He is getting ever more active every day. He's into absolutely everything. He cruises like a pro and stands without support for long periods of time now. He's a risk taker and wants to climb everything. Three days ago he got on his horse and after I finished rocking instead of asking for more he just did it himself! Pretty incredible.
